AVWW 1 and 2 fail to open

Hi
 just bought AVWW 1 and AVWW 2 on steam. when i open the games it loads but fails to bring up any menu screen or anything. it does play the bit-tune music. I've loaded in on 2 computers with the right specs and the same thing happens. any ideas?
