AVWW 1.2 Official Released In Patch Form!
« on: July 10, 2012, 10:59:47 am »
Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2012/07/avww-12-official-released-in-patch-form.html

This one is the culmination of our second series of post-release updates for the game.  It's currently available to all players through the in-game updater.  It will become available via installers and the Steam auto-updater and so forth later today, and we'll have full details on what's new at that time.

In the meantime, if you haven't seen them yet, we also put up two new strategy guides:

A Strategy Guide For Citybuilding In A Valley Without Wind 1.2
A Guide To Upgrading To A Valley Without Wind 1.2 From 1.0 Or 1.1

More to come soon.  Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

Okay, the installers are now live!  And Steam should be later today.

Oh sweet item pickup noise, never leave me again.

When you say 'Steam later today' you mean for the update. Not some low key announcement about steam activation, I assume. That would probably come with more fanfare. Although don't Steam copies still use the in-game updater like AI War does? Or does it update through the normal Steam process?

Edit: Does Storm Dash seem slower, or am I crazy?

Are the two mutually exclusive?

(no idea on the question; maybe changed from a bronze age to non-bronze-age?)

They aren't. But I've been using the same character since pre-release, I believe. I should probably turn up the difficulty now that I think of it...

Would it be possible to have some way other than direct combat to get rid of Vengeful Ghosts? (Could a form of the graveyard return maybe?)

In my recent quest to make it to Swamp Cave level 10 I've run into the problem of dying on level 8 in a room that leads to the next Passage to Lower Dungeon.  One death lead to more and now I have 3 ghosts and the Boss Jelly that I almost killed the first time blocking the way forward. I'm level 17 and they are level 22.

I'd rather not cave a different system as this is already the second Swamp Cave I've caved in. I got stuck on level 8 in the first Swamp Cave as well.

Would advancing in levels help or would the cave stay N+ levels ahead of me? I can't remember how global level increases are any more, though this cave is on continent 3 which I've beaten already so I hope advancing continent 4 would give me an advantage.

Of course, mentioning the longevity of my last character was going to lead to death quickly. Mini-boss wisp in a windstorm. I was not aware that they just locked you in place in mid-air when you got too close to them. 603 damage from that one thing. Le ouch.

I'm finding I'm enjoying AVWW a lot more these days, but gawds the RNG hates me.

Edit: Does Storm Dash seem slower, or am I crazy?

It seems MUCH faster to me. Also, it doesn't seem to consume a noticable amount of mana anymore. I regain far more than it consumes per second, resulting in my being able to move at intense speeds for infinite amounts of time.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

Well that's weird. I am pretty sure mine is slower. I used to have a hard time stopping to go through doors, now I have no such problem. I wonder if it's somehow basing its speed on some kind of variable that it shouldn't be.

Edit: Is there some kind of standard sized area that could be used for comparison testing? Are secret mission surface chunks all uniform width?

Bug.

It SHOULD wear off after restarting the game.  I had this too upon updating to 1.2.

Uh, is the game super fast for anyone now? Is this intentional? Between 1.2 update and the one before it, it's gone super fast - even enemie projectiles and especially eagles just shoot across the screen.

Seems to be a common issue. Try to just restart the game.

I've restarted the game lots since the problem started. I reckon I'll just stop playing until it's patched, it's nearly unplayable. It literally was unplayable with a character with the trait of 'runs faster', he would get from one end of the screen to the other in 3 seconds with dash.
