a thank you
« on: April 28, 2012, 03:21:44 am »
Hello,

After playing the demo and found it to my liking i bought the 4 - pack from steam 2 days ago to play together with the kids, a present for their good scores in school, thinking they like to hang out with dad in these sort of games (such as the late terraria, minecraft, etc..) like they did in the past.

Well after installing and setting up a server it turned into a marathon exploration/kill fest yesterday and probably will continue the coming days.

So thank you for delivering a very enjoyable game with a great bang for your buck (or euro in my case), beats the trip to the movie theater earlier this week by miles on end (50 euro for letting our brains turned into paste watching battleship omg!).

I do have some remarks though:

When giving it a spin and starting a server straight up, i thought we had a network problem since the menu was empty, turned up you have to create a world in singleplayer, maybe have a button there to create a world in the start a server menu to avoid confusion.

steam library shows 2 versions of the game, the full and the demo: removing the demo also removes the full game.

any way to sell enchants for upgrade stones? upgrade stones are a very rare commodity here, as the kids end up having a lot of "accidents"  :P and upgrade stones are primarily used for the health increases but they're running around with lot's of unused enchants (maybe add it as a feature in the difficulty slider?)

already aware of the "fix anachronism" missions changes, big thumbs up there, as it removes alot of trial and error for us!

Anyway, many thanks for bringing a very enjoyable game!

i think we can use this topic as a "Thank you devs!" topic right?

i would like to thank you guys at Arcengames because that game is VERY fun, i just wasted 8 hours playing straight without even seeing the time pass (suddenly it was dark outside!) and i am having a blast right now! So thank you to share with us such a amazing game like this.

only think i would note is that i would like more missions types, getting only five "stealth assassination" quests all the time is kinda repetitive, aside from that, the game is great!

Welcome to the forums and thank you both for the kind words.

As for the issue with the full game and the demo being installed. This is Valve's issue, we're working with them to get it fixed.

For the 5 assassination missions? That is entirely random, so that can happen sometimes.

Welcome to the forums, and thanks :)

We had planned to have the server create a world if none existed but there's a ton of little things that wouldn't happen properly that way, so we stuck with the "create new world always happens in singleplayer" rule because it saves a lot of pain :)

I'll make a note to have the server pop up a window with a "this needs an existing world to run" sort of message, though, so it doesn't just "silently" fail.

Interesting idea, but we've already overhauled both enchants (you can now reabsorb them to get 10% enchant-charge) and upgrade stones (costs are now constant and much lower, but benefits matching it) :)

That's all in the beta versions; you may want to try those (backup your worlds first) or wait for the next official version, just letting you know we have done something to address those issues.

Have fun :)

Just in for 1.007:

Fair enough.  Many thanks to my favourite indie developer, Arcen Games!  I bought into the beta a while back and hung around for a while, making suggestions and commenting on changes.  Then, as with all betas, I shelved it so that I wouldn't be burned out by the final release.  I've started playing it again now and I'm just amazed at how it's turned out.  I'm having more fun gaming now than I've had for a long time.

And, as with all Arcen games, it's only going to get bigger and better from here on!  I am such an Arcen fanboy, and I'm not sorry. :D
