  • More turrets! MORE TURRETS!
The world map reminds me of some kind of tile based board game. In a good way! I really like it.

It reminds me a lot of Catan; it's not hexagonal but the "board" is "dealt" as the game goes on; in this case when you get near the "edge" of what's been dealt.  Not sure how big the individual deals will be; currently it's just one contiguous geographical region but it will probably be wider scale than that because it seems like the game's going to need to be more intentional about setting up interesting scenarios with the overlords and their surroundings and so-on.

Rhinos, weird choice, but weird is good! Anyway, I was hoping for that beta soon, but I knew it would be too good to start at the beginning of August. Well, looking forward to that video and dev diary.

What else? The map looks pretty  :D

Off topic: I can't shake the question: How do you manage to make games and have 17000+ posts on a forum?!

because Chris is one of the few game developers out there who actually cares about the community ^^
and not just that... a lot of his posts are HUGE, always giving fans loads of info whenever someone asks a question. I still wonder how he even has time to respond, let alone write entire essays.

I'm a REALLY fast typist.  That really helps. :)

Thanks for the kind words, guys.  Been away on vacation for a week, and feeling much recharged now to push on through beta.  My son started really walking more during the week at the beach, too, which is great -- he'd done 5-7 steps at a go on his own before now, but now he's wandering where he wants and stopping and turning and squatting from standing, etc.  Pretty crazy transition all of a sudden.  He turns 11 months on Monday, so nice and early, too. :)

Will have more to share in the next couple of weeks!  Will try to share at least something small each week until beta, if I can.

Most if not all other developers do not do this, and I can see why - it takes too much time and simply impractical. The fact that it works for Chris is actually nothing short of a miracle. I'm serious. I think that Chris is a super-organized human being, with iron self-discipline, far beyond the capacity for this of most of us. Because plain and simple, if I have not been observing this with my own eyes here on the forums, I'd say this is plain impossible.

This is why I bought all the titles/expansions from Arcen, even Tidalis, which is not really my thing - simply to express profound respect for what is being done and for how this is done.

Thanks so much for the kind words -- not sure what to say beyond that, but it's much appreciated. :)  It's really nice to know that the effort is worthwhile to others -- which is what makes it worthwhile to me!

The effort is certainly appreciated by most around here I'm sure, myself included ^_^
You always seem to be on top of things when it comes to answering questions and providing information, and your care and
commitment really show in your products. So any new info is always welcome! ^_-
Nice to hear about your son too, those are the moments that you cherish and that stay with you   :)

On a side note, would you mind me putting a link to the main site or the forums in my sig on another forum? I'm quite active there on boards for other rpg's
so it may generate some more well deserved interest :)

Many, many thanks -- and sure, no problems on linking to our site from anywhere and everywhere else. We're always grateful for backlinks when anyone cares to!  That's was really a key part of how AI War got popular in the pre-2.0 days, and what ultimately led us to reviewers, Steam, expansions, further games, etc. :)
