Title: Ipad Version?
Post by: Castruccio on March 19, 2011, 01:19:11 pm

Is there any chance that you guys will port this to the new Ipad?  It seems like it'd be a perfect fit for the system, and the game is good enough to  develop a loyal following.  It is a shame these boards are so quiet because this is a very innovative puzzle game.

We've thought for a while about an iPad version and it could theoretically happen some day (and our engine supports it, though the license to use it for the iPad costs a bit extra), but it would inevitably take at least 1-2 months of our time to work through the various technical adaptations and red-tape with Apple, etc.  And the experiences we've seen others go through don't really encourage us that it's that great a place to be to be for most of the people who try (though it certainly has been great for a few).  So it isn't likely to be worth the time investment.  Dunno though, could happen.

What about getting Tidalis up on the Mac App store?  Basilisk Games, for instance, recently put the Eschalon series up on the app store.  This is a great way to gain exposure and the work would probably be much less intensive than an Ipad port.

Please bear in mind that we generally have to be hush-hush about ongoing efforts to work with new distributors :)  On the other hand, I don't recall details of whether that's one of the currently ongoing ones or not, so you can't read much into that ;)
