Druidia

That's not half bad, actually.

Planet
Earth
Terra
Firmament

These are a bit more common than I'm looking for.

whatever it is, please let's not have any hyphens or apostrophes in the name. bonus points if it doesn't end in "a."

Holy cow yes on the hyphens and other punctuation.  In terms of not ending in "a," I'm fine either way so long as the name is cool.

I'm definitely not arguing against Druidia in any sense, but:

Arcana
Name of an SNES game, fyi.

Did not know.  So scratch that one for sure (though I already didn't like it).

Cascade.

Ooh, that's cool!  I think that I'd prefer a name based off that word rather than just the word itself, but that's an extremely promising root word.

Hmm, I pronounce ! as "not."

I say "bang," but mean the same thing. :)

How about Sorawa?

Punny and elegant.

I don't get the pun, but I think that's a pretty cool word.

Oh god!  I totally forgot about that in that movie.  Yeah, that's out. ;)  Love that movie, but just no for this game.

At last we meet, for the first time, for the last time!

(Okay, got that out of my system).

Some names from my own generated list of AI War planet names, taken from my most recent game (list: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,9609.0.html):

Chlora
Decima
Sate
Proserpina (nice seed name for my list)
Consent (honestly, this was a generated name)

edit: it's hard to get away from a "-a" ending for a planet name.

edit2: I really like "Firmament" still.

Cascadia would be the obvious derivative name. Cascadium, Cascadent, Cascadius, or Cascadanum, could work, but they lose something. I still think just "Cascade" sounds the best out of all of them though.
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

If you are fine with something that does not sound english, how about:

Caelumno (Cut down to Calumno?)

It is supposedly (hello bablefish) latin for Sky (caelum) and Float (no).

Playing on the latin further gets:

Cretano
Celoino

I suppose I could go on, but it's me picking words from a latin translation page, not something coming out of my own head.

D.

Sorawa is a pun on "Sora wa", "the sky" used as the subject of a sentence in Japanese.

Arcana
Name of an SNES game, fyi.

Did not know.  So scratch that one for sure (though I already didn't like it).

To be fair arcana is just the plural of arcanum and used e.g. to refer to Tarot cards.

And as such it already comes sounding horribly cliched.
