I think I'm about to get this, but is the Deluxe version worth it?  $10 seems a little steep for 5 buildings.  The soundtrack and art book aren't really interesting to me.

Only get if you want the OST/Support the dev. Barring that, no, don't bother. You won't be missing anything.

And that sewer lake is very nearly flooding the land, I wonder what happens? I think it needs 2 or 3 more sewage plants

The water goes where the water will go. It will cause issues for your town :P.

If it really does that I know where I will build my water dam ;p SO far I haven't even figured out where to put these things to produce ANY kind of power

Ps.: I am very curious where the water will go though. ATM that's my main goal, getting that lake to overflow ;P Once it does I'll just.. uhm.. hope it doesn't overflow near that nuclear plant thats in that large weird looking round-about near the bottom

Soooo

97k pop and.. well 56% down to 41% unemployment.. and all it it took is a giant enclave of offices and commercial (latter only connected to train freight station)

So 3 more of those and I should be set to break the 100k ;p Kinda crazy what a massive problem the Hadron Collider brought, all those 56% employees of 90k pop were caught in the education system! That means over half my population was stuck in my education facilities and didn't work. No wonder I always had 100% employment. I ran into a typical delayed cause/effect loop.

So since nobody shows their fantastic cities off yet...

Overview (still 100k) but only 15% unemployment.. what a fight that was.

And this is why I love this game 2 train systems, highway, freight feeder, various round-abouts all part of 1 system. (top left it goes to massive industrial area, right side office and habitation) and yes, this flows perfectly ;)

Trains are super useful. But making them fit anywhere in a grid-based city is impossible. You'd have to plan for them to be there.. and I certainly did not. So everything is very difficult to build now. Especially since Freight/Passenger train routes are separated (I have 2 train lines on a loop in both directions and pictured is the end-point where the loop can't actually loop, because there is literally no way to extend this railway further. The stations are cramped.

Bonus: This is how you do freight stations without a giant traffic mess. (Note: Faster Entry, Faster Exit.. sadly means more traffic down-range but at least this flows nicely ;p)

A Paladin: The Beauty of Cities: Skylines in Screenshots #2. Another blog post out today.

I kinda slowed down in Cities this week. Between different priorities and my population hitting a bit of a level plane for some reason. I guess I need to just add a ton of residential but the demand is really low right now. Still, got some really fun screenshots out of it. Here's a few of them.

I'm having some fun with modding.  =P

This is the first try at replicating a football stadium in Eugene OR. It's going to get a lot more tweaks this next week if I get around to it and the traffic doesn't snarl again.

Just a fun flavor shot of one of my newest districts looking at my office complex.

Happens when you delete any elevated road, for a short while until the game despawns them ;p

This. Or they'll just float through the air down to a nearby road.

I am having this problem all the time. I need a little bit more instruction on how to connect roads that are elevated.

How I get around that is by deleting a section of road and then starting from the road you want to keep and building a connection to the other road. In your case, I'd just delete the entire middle section and then start a build from the right section connecting it all the way to the left connection.

*slaps forhead* oh right, sorry, when you start building a road from an elevated one, hover your mouse over the support strut below the road. The mouse should "snap" to the road, allowing you to start from it.

Hopefully this makes more sense. Except that the blasted mouse didn't take in the screenshot. -_-. If this still doesn't make sense, I can do a video recording to show what I'm talking about.

The curve tool is a SPLINE tool. Spline curves are made by telling the game where the curve mid-point is but since it's a spline, 90° angles are smoothed and interpolated. Meaning you are building the curve wrong... the midpoint has to be where both roads intersect if you extend them (in your mind) to intersect. Normally this should be very easy to find, if you stuck to the base-grid anyway.. and if both roads are perfectly straight ;p

Ps.: Also tight curves like the one to the right of that elevated road slow down traffic substantially as they (cars/trains) actually slow down when a curve happens that's not smooth enough.
