Title: Has anyone here played The Void?
Post by: Gallant Dragon on October 18, 2012, 01:12:44 AM
Hey Arcen...ers,

So, I saw this game on Steam, http://store.steampowered.com/app/37000/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/37000/) , and I thought it looked interesting.  I Googled it, and it's looking even more interesting the more I read about it.  So, from the looks of things it's basically a Demons-Souls-Hard adventure-painting-resource management-surrealist-arthouse-metaphor game, that involves a really neat art style.  Lots of people have been saying that it's one of the most unique games out there, and Rock Paper Shotgun says it's the most important game you are GOING TO ****ING PLAY. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/09/29/wot-i-think-the-void/ (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/09/29/wot-i-think-the-void/)

So, color me "I'm probably getting this as soon as I have spare time and money", but out of interest and a little bit of apprehension over the apparent difficulty of this game I'd like to ask: has anyone on these here forums ever played this game?

(Mod edit: obscured NSFW bit from the RPS quote)

The game gets pretty dang hard later on if you don't know what you're doing by then (and theres a good chance of that), but otherwise, its a rather interesting thing indeed.
Well, interesting or confusing, both fit depending on how metaphorical you feel like while playing it. ;)

Yeah the game is absolutely hardcore near the later levels....
