AI War 2 is a go!

Hey guys,

I  just pre-ordered the Alpha on Backerkit. 

I have 713 hours (and counting) logged into AI: War Fleet Command.  To everyone who is working hard to make the sequel happen - thank you so much.  The first game is a an absolute pleasure to play, and I haven't been this excited for a release since I was 8 years old.

If you are feeling low this year and wondering what is the point of all this hard work, I want you all to know that the first game is the best thing I've ever played.  I can't wait for the sequel.  Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. :) Alpha should be out by the end of this month. I'm stoked for it!

That definitely makes the end of a hard week (unrelated to Arcen) a lot brighter, for me.  I hope we don't let you down with the sequel, and Keith and I are both looking forward to working with you and others on making this thing all that it can be hopefully before even the Early Access folks get their hands on it.

I'm super stoked about the alpha later this month, but at the same time partly thinking "man someone is going to get the wrong idea about it and chew me out," particularly when it comes to something like performance in areas I need to collect data on in the alpha.  As long as people in the alpha come in with the mindset of "I'm here to be a guinea pig and also a focus group to help make this better," and not "I'm here to play a near-finished game," I think we'll be in good shape.

It's going to mainly be a matter of getting over the first few humps with those alpha players and finding out where performance falls down or whatever and fixing that up within a matter of days most of the time.

Rambling. :)  But people's excitement for anything I'm working on always fills me with a mixture of pride and fear. ;)
Have ideas or bug reports for one of our games?  Mantis for Suggestions and Bug Reports. Thanks for helping to make our games better!

Tridus: Thank you for the welcome!  I don't interact much online but it's been on my To-Do list to join this forum for quite some time.  I share your excitement: 2017 is better because AI:War 2 is part of it.

x4000: Not at all!  I'm glad it was a small bright note on your week. 

I wouldn't lose sleep over the inevitable negative feedback.  From what I've seen (long-time lurker, first-time poster kind of thing)  - this small but loyal community is pretty robust.   I can only speak for myself but I'm excited to participate in creating something awesome.  My suspicion is that the majority of people who are engaged at this level feel the same.

In terms of Pride & Fear, I'd like to say: You guys have already done something extraordinary.  You've got nothing to prove in my opinion.  My totally-guessing-your-actual-thoughts of your position advice is to enjoy being in the awesome position of creating something you already know is going to be appreciated.  :)

Anyways, I'm happy that AI:War exists, and it's so amazing that AI:War 2 is happening.  Crush this year!  It's going to be so good!  :)

Funny to read this Chris, this just made the month of March much better for me. I will be tied down in one location for about month as a part of my current job, and the only luxury I will have then is time. Remembering the alpha is coming out right when I get tied down will make the month much more manageable. A good time too, for during summer and beyond I won't have the luxury of time anymore.
