Oh, what is the current speed of penetrators? Now that they are actually at risk of being destroyed en route to their target and that they are now noticeably more fragile, it seems like their speed should be decently high. Not transport speeds high, of course. Just moderately above average.

Just an FYI, it will be tonight, but it will be a few more hours.  I'm breaking for dinner, and then will be back for some last changes in this round of AI War stuff.  Then it's AVWW-dedicated time for me for a while starting tomorrow, unless something major comes up with AI War.  There's some real gems in these last few batches from this week, though, including this new one:

* Previously, adding and removing ships to control groups was way slower than it should have been.  In terms of bulk add/removes, it was way, WAY slower than it should have been.  This was a past optimization that was not fully optimized -- it had one critical flaw, mainly.  This is now fixed, and it has a couple of major effects:
** Obviously, when editing control groups in bulk, it's hugely improving the speed of that (it could cause "Waiting For Players" messages, before).
** Unexpectedly, it also makes savegames load in less than half the time they used to.  As it turns out, there was a lot of "take this ship out of the control group it already wasn't in" going on in there, and that was just eating performance.

Personally I am not afraid about the nerf. I am personally afraid it adds a certain amount of micro without it making them less abusable.

But I will experiance if my minor fear is anywhere near reasonable during next weekend :)
