Hello!

I have been observing this game for quite a while, after I first saw it on steam a couple of months ago and was very intrigued by the controversial style in which it has flourished and the awesomeness of its concept. However, I decided not to buy it at the time because of, from what I gathered, a very sparse community (however very dedicated!). I had further investigated and joined the Hamachi channel, to find that most people did not have similar time schedules as me, at least from what I could observe.

I do want buy this game eventually, and seeing it arise on steam leads to believe that it will experience a massive growth in community of at least a thousands players I hope(too optimistic? or not optimistic enough?  :)).

Anyways, I highly recommend adding a "Introductions", or whatever you want to call it, sub section of the forum to provides a place for people to properly introduce themselves.

Well, hopefully the steam release will help grow the community. At the moment it seems games can happen during the week with 2-3 person games happening on the IRC channel (accessible through the main page), and weekends can spawn bigger 4-6 person games throughout the day. The game has sold easily over a thousand copies, but having a thousand players on multiplayer simultaneously for an RTS would mean AI war trumped every RTS that is not starcraft.

And remember, 25% off on steam if you buy this week.

And many forum lurkers are also SP only gamers - as much as i would like to play coop i just don't have the (continuous) times required ;( I think thats the case with many who don't play mp

Can't really compare that to starcraft - a match there hardly ever takes longer than 20 minutes

Yeah, I usually only play SP myself, though I'm not exactly a lurker :P. Mostly a time thing. I also start many games and don't finish too many, mostly due to the fact that AI War is both on my Desktop and Laptop and synching saves is a pain. Speaking of, Chris, could you PLEASE make it so we can change the save directory? I have a serious urge to compact this game into Portable form and jump drive it with one of the many flash sticks I have lying around.

There was already a meeting grounds forum, but since it was in the main category and places like steam just link direclty to this forum (which makes sense), I've now moved that other forum to be a sub-forum of this one.  So it should be a lot more visible, hopefully.

For that matter, I moved the tech support forum into the main forum, too.

I was wondering why the main page of the forums was smaller...

It will grow again when we start doing non-AI-War-related games.  Feedback will need its own separate section, for instance, though the AI War expansion will just go in this section.

Personally I think that will be look better and more clean if "AI War" sub forum will be changed to "General" and put it in in new category - AI War. Remove child boards from it and place in that new category as subforums.

Only problem is, that various outside sources link specifically to the url for this forum.  Such as Steam.  So for people to find things, they need to be sub-forums, unfortunately.

This is second time today that this issue was reported. NET 3.5 needs reboot maybe? Or steam interfering .NET installation.

No, I mean that it links directly to this specific AI War forum.  I wouldn't want to call this general, anyway, because Arcen is going to be putting out more than just AI War. ;)  Also, clearly you have never worked tech support if you think people know how to click (I kid -- mostly, haha).  But I understand where you're coming from.

Oh man, thanks.  That's actually a bug with the web-based .NET 3.5 installer, but I'll go and post that.  I hadn't seen the Steam forums there, because our store page links directly here.
