iPhone AI War coming soon!

Okay, wishful title. But still...

.NET on iPhone. How far away can iPhone AI War really be now? :)

Cheers!

Technically Mono but still....

The problem with the iPhone is that it doesn't really have the processing power, screen size, or graphics to handle an AI war game. Plus, i thought that x4000 stated he wasn't going to be doing a version for the iPhone.

Yeah well, when they make Dual Core iPhones I'll buy one and port AI War to it. Though technically, if you had a fast enough internet connection, you could Remote in to a PC and play it that way. Once a few years ago, I managed to play Spore on a 433 MHZ netbook with no 3D video card using this method ;D Its kinda like how OnLive works will work.

Sorry, I'm afraid it was unclear that my post was tongue-in-cheek. :)

Well, there's Crysis on an iPhone, so AI War shouldn't be too hard .. ;)

They were streaming, that doesn't count. You could easily stream a game like AI war onto a remote device already, without any fancy network traffic QOS technology. So long as the host had a good enough CPU for the AI thread.

Yeah, I know, I was just going off your Remote / OnLive comment.
Although if you have an iPhone and you're playing AI War on it, then it's AI War on an iPhone regardless of how it got there... streaming may be "cheating", but it works :D

Anyone have a smartphone with remote dekstop to test with? I'm curious to see how well it would run, and I don't have my little netbook anymore.

Is there any such streaming remote desktop software for iPhones?  I just bought a 3GS yesterday, actually, and that would be kind of interesting.  I'm not sure that the interface of AI War would ever work well on such a small display, but other Arcen titles might well make an appearance on Wiiware, the 360, PS3, or iPhone, depending on how Mono support is for them and what other sorts of challenges are there.  Certainly the 360 is comparably easy thanks to XNA, but I'd love to see some other versions of future titles, too.

Depending on the game, I would buy a 360 or get my Wii sent up to college just to play it :P

Probably a ways off -- 2010 sometime at the earliest, and would probably be just for Feedback and/or the tower defense game to start.  But I'd certainly like to be more multiplatform at some stage, it will be interesting to see what happens and what is possible at the time. :)

Just don't port AI: War to anything portable. Currently the bulk and weight of my laptop is the only reason I have a social life :)

Didn't someone post recently they'd gotten it working well enough on one of their netbooks but the screen was a bit on the small side?

Given that there's netbooks coming out now with screens that support ???x768 resolution I'm sure the game would be eminently playable on such a device, at least with a lower number of planets then 80. :)

A netbook isnt too hard anymore with the Atoms, I'm talking steaming it down onto a 433 MHZ Smartphone or something.

Yup, it works just fine on my netbook, its just that various menus go off the screen. It's a little hard to get stuff set up but once you're in the game all the UI there is fine.
