I sent you a PM about this but I don't think it sent since it's not showing up in my Outbox...

It almost certainly sent. Sent messages don't show up in the outbox, I think that serves the purpose that a drafts folder normally would in an email client.

You have to check a box to make it save a copy into the outbox, otherwise it doesn't.  I got the message, and just had to think about some aspects of it for a bit -- just sent you a response a minute ago, I think it sounds cool. :)

I got it, thanks. I was just confused because I hit send and nothing came up in any way, shape, or form to indicate that it did in fact send. Suggestion perhaps?

I didn't program the forums.  ;)  But that's something Rev might be able to look at with all the work he is doing on them, I don't know.

I'll look into doing that, though I'm hoping there'll be an existing mod that extends the messaging system.

Implementing that is likely to involve changing some of the core forum functions rather than just the display templates, which while not necessarily dangerous (I'd develop it on my test forum), can create a lot of work ensuring compatibility when upgrading to new versions.

I manage a Zen Cart shop and a couple of other forums (PhpBB), and testing that the extensions I've written with the new versions is always tedious. Maybe just making it save the messages to the Outbox by default would be sufficient?

That was my thought, yeah.  I don't know when SMF 2.0 is going to hit, but that's got a ton of new stuff in it already.  So I imagine that upgrading to that will invalidate a lot of mods and other changes.

That or a simple pop-up message would suffice.

Almost certainly, fortunately all the current changes we've made here will be pretty quick to implement on top of the new SMF 2 templates. In fact I'll start migrating the Arcen Theme to 2.0 soon, I'll get a version of it working on a test forum then we'll be ready once it's released.

Very fortunately, saving messages to the outbox by default is an available option on SMF2, so I think we'll just wait for that. :)

All good to me.  And I split this out from the original topic, since it wandered really off-topic. :)
