No.

In fact, it should change practically nothing about the actual combat results, unless you were somehow actually keeping ships physically out of range of a target on the same planet, etc.

Nope, it's nothing but a visual thing in terms of shots fired, etc.  Nothing on that end is different at all (same as with the weak forcefields, which already worked that way).

Sadly, yes I do (or rather, did). I traditionally do position my turrets a little outside my forcefield with the assumption that they won't get much closer to the target than the forcefield. I'm going to have to rethink my positioning of some of the shorter ranged turrets now, especially the flak turrets.

Interesting. I'll load up my game and see how it goes. Sadly, there are several Mk. IV and III Ion cannons in my way, and now that they've been buffed it'll be a problem.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

Sounds like great changes, awesome.  Have to rethink my turreting a bit but sounds like great stuff.

"Preservation Wardens previously did not scale at all when there were multiple human homeworlds and/or multiple human players. Now each time the game spawns a warden it instead spawns 1 warden per player/human-homeworld"

I'm not sure if this is a glitch, but I have regular forcefield setup around a wormhole and a cross-planet attack sent tons of ships into that system. However, they are streaming through the field without any trouble, although they aren't going through the wormhole. I have a save attached if that'll help.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

Re: Monitoring FF Health

Suggestion: A health bar for the FF is displayed. It should be slightly larger then normal (so it easily visible when zoomed out). I think a slightly new design would be nice...(attachment included). Veeery easy to see health at a glance (boxes are very course, 25/50/75/100% health) and easy to identify as the FF health even in crowded situations (due to blueness, size).

In seriousness though, these new changes sound exciting. :) Loading it up now, can't wait to see if it's me or the AI who ends up paying in the end.
