So long as the Paranoid AI type doesn't get any bonus reinforcements (two guard posts per wormhole, double reinforcement waves, etc.) like a normal turtle, I am A-Okay with having an AI type that uses excessive numbers of AI eyes!
I'm currently having some problems with AI eyes in interesting situations I've never had to deal with before*, and having an AI type where you have to deal with AI eyes on a ridiculously frequent basis would make for good practice. Exclude it from all except the Random - All random selection processes, of course.
*Turtle AI type. Mk4 planet with an AI eye, two or three guard posts under forcefields, significant but not excessive forces (not enough to send my whole fleet in without feeling pain, but they're all mk4), and a mining golem I need to destroy. Hooo boy! I don't have any of my own golems yet, but I have a small fleet of mk1 spirecraft (4 implosion artillery, 8 siege towers, a handful of penetrators which I am consistently really really stupid with using) not that that's going to do much good - mk1 siege towers aren't exactly spectacular in that kind of a situation.
