Assuming my game works as normal, I think I dont I even get 1 on each 5 planets playing on 8.7. Perhaps just that, but absolutelly not more frequent than 1/5.
Some AI types do have more, so that explains some discrepancy.  The 4/5 ratio is way way out there though :)
Witnessed simular recently too, seemed like EVERY planet one AI owned had an eye on it. See if I can find the save for it...
The other AI had about the correct 1/5-1/4 of planets...

Did anyone check out my save that I posted though? I mean, 11 out of 12 planets have AI eyes. And we just captured 2 that also had them.

Dunno if it matters anymore since the beta updates fixed it but it's still quite comical. I mean I really thought the game was designed this way.

And this is the tragedy of major balance bugs in major versions (there were several in the "stable" 5.0); it gives new players a bad impression about the game.

Its a bit sad that the distributors put so much pressure on the devs to get 5.0 out the door. I could sort of tell from how the devs were reacting to posts that they were not comfortable calling this a stable release quite yet, but had to or risk the distributors not doing business with them anymore.

We may be onto something now. Turtles type AIs are supposed to have a notably higher spawn rate for their eyes, but right now it seems too high. This may deserve double checking in the code or something.

I found that the multiplier for the three turtle types was frighteningly of a different order of magnitude ;)  Will be putting a change in for that soon.

Yep, run across it as well, version 5.0003, seed 52159351. Ai opponents diff 7 and diff 6. (I have one red and the other blue to differentiate them) The diff 6 is a peacemaker I would guess, the diff 7 is some kind of turtle and literally has eyes everywhere. I had to try and take one of his planets as it was very resource rich but I'm probably gonna blow through the diff 6 planets for a bit till I have enough knowledge to have stronger units

Is there actually an AI that will spawn Eyes on each and every planet (perhaps excluding mk1s)?

It could be done.  And the achievement for beating it would have to be called "Running With Scissors" or something like that.

If we did it, I'd be more inclined to bundle in some other particularly precious tactics (like ALWAYS sticking the eye under a spire guard post ff, having the occasional raid engine covered by a planetary cloaker that's on the opposite end of the planet from the wormholes and has every angle covered by grav drains, you know), and just calling the AI Type "The Bastard".  But that wouldn't quite work with the g-rated-ness of almost all of the in-game text, so I'd have to come up with something more creative ;)

And I'm honestly not sure who would willingly subject themselves to that one, and it'd probably have to be omitted from all the randoms ;)

A "Paranoid" AI with eyes everywhere would be amusing, but undoubtedly tiresome ;)

Honostly said, I think I would enjoy it now and again. I'm afraid I find counter-post more tiresome, at times (but that probably just means they work as intended :D).
