The Art To Waging War In The AI war Universe
« on: May 07, 2010, 09:25:55 am »
This thing Evolves around Sun-tzu's Art of war , but who cares?

Scouting :

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
- Sun Tzu

Before Battles , its Worth it to Scout The Enemy , As Sun Tzu said , the key of winning battles is Information , How do you think the Allies Won WWII? They won it thanks to information , and adapting that into the AI war Universe isn't hard , just take a scout , unlike the horrendous duties needed to obtain information about the enemy , Attacking without The information of the Defenders , but having  a mix of ships and understanding the strenghts and weaknesses of your attacking fleet can let you win the fight , BUT , it will post a defeat too , and its more likely that you are going to lose more ships then the AI lost in the attack you made since you didn't notice that there was 50 AI fighters when you sent those 73 bombers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An army may march great distances without distress, if it marches through country where the enemy is not. You can be sure of succeeding in your attacks if you only attack places which are undefended. You can ensure the safety of your defense if you only hold positions that cannot be attacked.
- Sun Tzu

Scouting also gives you Intel about what to Hold and what not to Hold , if a planet is in such a position that its easy to attack and has a data centre , its better to raid it and destroy the Data Centre and Sabotage some buildings(what i mean is to Damage) that are important and then getting the hell out , holding the planet is unneeded as the easier the place is to capture , the easier it is for the AI to Strip empty off , you can always take the planet later once you are sure things are secure , but its not worth it to capture a easily takeable planet , tho it gives a economy boost , you will find yourself sending in ships to try and get rid of the AI should they attack the planet , only to be Scarificing them to the AI God(uh..... what?) and getting a economy Drop instead , thus , if you have a planet that looks worthless , then don't capture it , its not worth Mouthfuls of rockets flying at your fleet and blowing  them apart
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taking Advantage of the AI's reinforcements and unpredicting nature :

Should the enemy strengthen his van, he will weaken his rear; should he strengthen his rear, he will weaken his van; should he strengthen his left, he will weaken his right; should he strengthen his right, he will weaken his left. If he sends reinforcements everywhere, he will everywhere be weak.
- Sun Tzu

The AI will reinforce planets which seems to have a danger , which means cutting and pausing your army outside a AI planet can be disastrous , but it can also be used to a advantage , by "Scaring" a AI by putting a "Army" outside a hostile AI planet , the AI will reinforce the planet which has a danger to the "Army" , and thus , if you can sneak the real army or a Raiding force behind the bunch of planets , you can attack without Real resistence before you reach the AI planet which the AI is reinforcing , by the time you reach there , you would of destroyed a bunch of AI planets , and the Heavily Reinforced AI planet is where you sent both the "Army" and the real army/raiding force in , making a easy victory and giving a message to the AI commanders that their Days are numbered and they could get attacked anytime , and they will soon get their heads shoved up their ***es
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy's country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not so good. So, too, it is better to recapture an army entire than to destroy it.
-Sun Tzu

It it important that you don't Dominate a Defeated Enemy , but to capture it , often its a critical structure like a Adv Factory or a Ion cannon , or even a Counter-spy , remember , the AI will Always Forget what you capture and keep sending cloaked ships or Mark 1 ships even if you have a Counter-spy or ion cannon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Defending :

The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable.
- Sun Tzu

Thats right , do Not hope that the Enemy doesn't attack , and don't Defend after you got a warning , instead , Defend your Planets Before someone attacks , it will give you more chances of pushing back and kicking them back to their base , defending after you got a attack warning gives you a high chance of getting screwed up and losing the planet , Often , it will be a critical planet , like as if there is a Advanced Factory or Your Home Command Station Itself , Making you look for another Adv Factory or , in the Command station case , Losing the Game

this will be updated later when i decide to and get some more useful information using Sun tzu's Art of War Quotes
