Title: Locating Home Worlds via Engineers
Post by: MoogleGunner on January 18, 2010, 04:16:26 am
A friend of mine came up with a very interesting solution for finding the AI Homeworlds: send Engineers to every planet in the galaxy. It doesn't give you scouting information, but at least you know where they are. Is this generally done, and I'm just now seeing it or...?

Well, thats certainly possible ever since MK1 engineers gained teleport ;p But tis works for anything that teleports ^^

Not really how it is done since you will need the scout info to plan your advance, but besides the waste of engies tis is indeed possible to do.. ;p

The thing is - theres a reason this works
If you give teleporting stuff a move-order it can traverse through all sectors unharmed (because it teleports right after coming out, and is already back in before the ai notices ,p)

This does has the potential to be abused, if as the engineer warps into each system, you hit pause, and have a look around. Does require some patience though, perhaps punishment enough for trying the tactic.
