Input style?

Are the controls going to be mouse-driven, WASD, or controller driven?   All these comparisons to the 16-bit era make me think of controllers.

Mouse input may not be supported at all, but it certainly won't be prominent.  Both keyboards and controllers will be supported and configurable to your desired format.  A gamepad is definitely highly recommended for the best experience, but it's not at all required.
