I, for example, have a wonderfully powerful magnum-esque pistol with a tiny magazine and rapid reload but which, if I ever happen to manually reload it rather than waiting for my mag to empty, turns into a grenade.

Anyway, it seems unfair to compare the spell count in AVWW2 to the guns in Borderlands 2.  The reason BL2 (is it B2 or BL2?) has so many is because they're a random combination of several attributes.  AVWW2's spells are all lovingly handcrafted and balanced against each other individually, and don't require farming a giant homicidal robot over and over to get what you're looking for.  Not that I'm against farming giant homicidal robots per se (how could anyone be?).

Which reminds me, will there be any stimulus to farm in this game?  Other than being intrinsically fun, I mean.

Not a bit.  Rather, you'll be killing enemies because you have to in order to get past them.  The better chunk design, enemy design, and health balancing should ensure that.

Ah, Tiedore! How I love thee!

Tiedores are kinda okay, although the Rocket launcher ones just suck totally unless you're up against Saturn or another boss who is really big but also comes close to you. I have a Dhal pistol which shoots homing corrosive projectiles which is kinda neat, will AV2 have anything like that which won't suck ass (yeah I'm looking at you spell from the first game).

That's what I was trying to get at. The spells aren't just randomized stats or parts, they're actually hand-crafted and most of them are hopefully rather unique (although I would be upset if there weren't a variety of simple straight-shot spells). Borderlands only has like hand-crafted pieces that randomize around. Not gonna talk bad about Borderlands, but I must say I encounter more samey weapons in that game than in any Metroidvania. Order of Ecclesia comes to mind, where even the higher tier swords or likewise actually have slightly different hitboxes and such.

I'm hoping for some neat support spells rather than all damaging. Some neat spells like Time Stop, Invisibility, and some summon spells would be nice. Would add some variety and set AVWW2 apart from other games. Hope you guys can get a beta out soon!

Beta coming in November! And a few Mage classes have support or mobility spells in addition to damaging, but most just have damaging of various kinds.

I think technozoologist is in the first game as an NPC profession. Though I thought it was Technozoologicalist.

Yeah, that was in the first game too, but it was only an NPC profession.  Now the NPCs have a skill system rather than professions, and players have classes.  So all six of the main ones from the first game had to be kept, of course.  My favorite is still Lumbermancer. :D

EDIT: Ninja'd.  And yeah, it was in the first game as Technozoologist.  Technozoologicalism is their profession's name, though. :)

You see, you take that cloud over there, (the green one, not the white one), and then cleave it, and a gust comes out. No wind or lack thereof getting in the way. :P
